Sparkling garnet with peripheral hues of brick red.
Ethereal briary & sous bois stem/spice characters charge the glass with an alluring perfume, leading the senses towards the powerful earthen, dark fruit core. Although 100% new oak is employed its impact is relegated to the background into a supportive role by force of fruit.
An initially powerful fruit wave courses the palate, riding on a raft of firming tannins which provide for great tension against the energetic acid line. Earth, meat stock & dark chocolate surround dark fruits to leave a long, textural finish that laps the shores of the palate memory.
Although still an infant, this wine already possesses great presence and power. We are impressed by how the fruit is in no way bullied by the oak, and if anything, the opposite is in effect. 2010 was a great ripening year which is reflected not only quality of the fruit and accompanying stem tannins. Many years lay ahead for this inaugural release, currently we’re thinking around 2020-2024 will see the wine in its best light. Over time we’ll track it's development and will update our notes accordingly.
