“From the oldest estate vines planted in ’92. 100% whole bunches fermented with wild and cultured yeast, matured for 20 months in new French oak. This has had the whole shooting box thrown at it, but has responded in fine style. Yes, the whole bunches are obvious, as is the 100% new oak, bt the friut steps daintily around the road blacks that might have otherwise been too much, and in doing so underlines its excellent length and finish.”

“One of the more unique approaches to Pinot Noir in Australia with 100% whole bunch and 100% new oak. The new oaks gives a sweetness to stem, dark cherry and rhubarb with a gentle but attractive smokiness shining through. Inputs of both oak and whole bunch are on show on the palate, but the biggest impact comes from the beautifully balanced fruit that has both boldness of cherry and raspberry but maintains an elegant line of acidity. Spice adds layers of interest to a finish that lingers with a gently earthen note.”

“From the oldest vines, 100% whole-bunch pressed. 100% barrel matured, mainly in new oak. The Curly was made in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2015 only. Transparent ruby colour. Complex, dramatic nose. Very concentrated with pretty emphatic tannins that are still dry.”

A different expression of Curly Flat Pinot Noir. Inspired by Domaine Dujac who employ high levels of whole bunch along with high levels of new oak.
Bouquet
Ripe stems and a powerful yet alluring nose of red fruits framed in a complex autumnal fragrance of dried leaves, undergrowth and spice.
Palate
Palate takes the form of an energetic rush of plush fruit and finely knitted tannin that is as lusciously mouth-filling as it is luxuriously long.
Cellaring
Approachable now, though a long future is assured in the cellar. An impactful and powerful wine that will deliver both intrigue and satisfaction over 10+ years.
How is this drinking now?
Forest scents meet leather and spiced French oak creating a good frame for the maturing black cherry fruit. Impressive mouthfeel meets profound structure while good acidity maintains flowing length. Drink 2020-2030.
