“The toughest of years has produced a beautiful drink. It’s light in colour but high on fragrance. It smells pretty much tremendous. Fistfuls of spice, autumn leaves, fresh cherries, wood. It tastes similarly, all washy and juicy and strung intricately together, a band on the run, in synch, in tune, on song. Spice, savouriness, leafiness; all are the spirit of the day. But there’s some sweetness too to the fruit, and it plays well. Not deep, not profound; uplifting.”

A different expression of Curly Flat Pinot Noir. Inspired by Domaine Dujac who employ high levels of whole bunch along with high levels of new oak.
Bouquet
Red fruits are prominent, with darker fruits supporting underneath. Deep secondary characters of leather, charcuterie, dried flowers and fresh lavender merge with positive subtle oak influences of cedar, mocha and vanillin spice.
Palate
Lithe, energetic red fruits with fine, yet firm oak tannins of high quality cocoa. The natural acid backbone to make for a sublime backlit finish. A palate of subtlety and great cohesion.
Cellaring
Subtle at first glance, this is a wine of great persistence on the palate. Expect to see good development over 5+ years with its peak year well beyond.
How is this drinking now?
Light red brick hues, ethereal scents of red berries, autumnal undergrowth meets light mushroom complexity. Delicate structure comprising of finely firm tannin that meet in the middle before being gently released via freshening acidity. Drink 2020 – 2023.
