“A rose by any other name, but I like the name as it’s a reminder that the wine was produced from some of the best Pinot Noir in the Macedon Ranges. This is not something you can say about the masses of rose produced across the country. A burnt orange to pink in colour with wild strawberry, faint citrus and creamy tones. The palate has structure and proportion with length drawn out from a base of taut acidity with summer berry fruits that hone in on raspberry and cherry that are given some richness on the mid palate, the finish enjoys a savoury rendition of just ripe berry fruits.”

“Richly-coloured, a classic blend of orange and pink. Wild strawberries lead the nose, they also finish the nose – not one-dimensional, just classic. There’s a whole-bunch spice to the palate, as well as an earthy, savoury, sinewed line that carries to the finish. Dangerously drinkable. A solid attribute in a wine.”

The Real Review
“Curly Flat pinot noir made as a rose. The actual flavour profile seems slightly sweeter than normal, or maybe that’s more a reflection of me. It’s certainly textural, and it has clear savoury/earthen twists, and the finish has a lip-smacking dryness to it. Perhaps I should just file this under ‘juicy and delicious’ and be done with it. Its fruitiness is all rosewater and cranberry and cherry, with lemon myrtle as a highlight. It’s most enjoyable.”

Whole bunch pressed Pinot Noir, allowed three hours of skin contact for the palest pink colour. Barrel fermented, and its texture built by resting on lees prior to bottling.
Appearance
Sparkling rose gold
Bouquet
Floral notes lead a chorus of red summer berries into an elegant frame of dried flowers and cinnamon spice. The nose culminates in a crisp yet complex bouquet.
Palate
The flow of fresh cut strawberry is underpinned by a refreshing citrus spark of mandarin flesh and pink grapefruit zest. French oak fermentation provides a subtly creamy frame while providing a light talc like tannin scaffold. For fans of the 2018 vintage, the 2019 Curly Flat White Pinot is the perfect encore this summer!
Cellaring Suggestions
If you can resist, the White Pinot will cellar for up to 18 months.
