“Whole bunch-pressed, fermented in French oak (52% new), 18 months maturation, 20% mlf. Bright, light straw-green; in the typically tightly wound Curly Flat style: very, very long and well-balanced, fruit – not oak – in the driver’s seat. The attention to detail is awesome, more than almost any other Australian chardonnay.”

Wine Companion
“Whole bunch pressed, 20% mlf, 52% new oak, all French coopered. And now we must enter the realm of extreme deliciousness. So this wine insists. Oak, fruit, zing, swing. Lime, pears dripping with juice, cream, peach. Full and bold, but ever-so-lengthy. Preserved lemons. Lactose. It goes on. In a mesmerising way.”

The Wine Front
“Here we have a precise expression of genuine cool-region chardonnay. Hints of grapefruit show on the restrained nose, and the palate is reserved but long, finishing with racy acidity and only a suggestion of oak.”

Our truly cool climate ensures an sublime, yet complex expression of Chardonnay that speaks with purity of time and place.
Bouquet
A complex and aromatic nose that is at once minerally, yet creamy. A myriad of citrus and stone fruits ranging from lemon and lime to white peach, nectarine, and apricot. Integrated French oak, with nougat like lees character, offers plenty of spice and support.
Palate
With an initially rich weight, the nose transfers seamlessly to the palate creating a platform for the glowing acidity to shine through to a long lingering finish. A great sense of balance pervades effortlessly throughout. The wine speaks of a vineyard and winery working together in symmetry as it is as elegant as it is rich, and as textured as it is long on the palate.
Cellaring
While approachable now this is, undoubtedly, one for the cellar, where it will comfortably age over the next 10+ years.
How is this drinking now?
A warm yet balanced growing year has made a wine of equal measure. Less malo (20%) has kept the palate vibrant as cool climate stone fruits gracefully enter their mature phase. Drink 2020-2024.
