“50% mlf has conferred complexity, stablity and poise on one hand, and retained natural acidity on the other. This strikes a creamy chord that parlays well with the wine’s sheer extract, stone fruit and vanilla pod notes. The finish is long and emphatic, careening across a high-pitched scale of mineral crunch and layered complexity.”

Wine Companion
“Very jewelly and correct. If you were served this in Burgundy, you’d be thrilled. Still youthful and just the merest hint of matchstick but delightfully bright and crystalline.”

Latent power. A Curly Flat signature. There’s a deep pool of fruit sitting deep in the palate, not drowning, not waving, just resting there, waiting for time to pull back the covers. Spicy/creamy oak, lemon curd, grapefruit and white peach, a sheet of sweet cedarwood tucked neatly about it all. This is chardonnay in straw-coloured guise, and yet it feels young; the real evolve is still ahead of us. It will come. It will be worth the wait. Oh the texture and the length.”

The Wine Front
Our truly cool climate ensures an sublime, yet complex expression of Chardonnay that speaks with purity of time and place.
Bouquet
Sea breeze scents introduce the restrained, yet focused nose. Lemon curd, white peach, fresh roasted cashew with perfumed oak providing a sublime frame of cream and spice to the fruit.
Palate
An initially creamy, mealy palate lays solid stage for the characters of lime, lemon blossom and white peach. Finely spun texture and mineral acid ignite a luxuriously long palate line that pronounces the longevity of this wine. Great balance.
Cellaring
While enjoyment can be found now, the real rewards will come with cellaring, as a future of 12 – 15 years is assured such is its power and length.
How is this drinking now?
A powerful wine that’s now entering a more relaxed phase, still plenty of youthful charm of lemon curd/grapefruit being embellished by maturing complexity. Drink 2020-2030.
