“Is the Macedon Ranges a great place to grow pinot noir? Judging by this wine, and a handful of others, it is. Curly Flat 2005 is a very complex, sensuous essay in pinot.”

The Age
“This is the best Curly Flat to date, it’s very deep and rich, the concentrated fruit weaving a magical tapestry of spice, black cherry and dark plum flavours, with hints of smoke and earth. The oak is barely discernible and tannins are supple and gentle, yet provide good structure, so the wine’s flavour lingers well after it’s gone.”
95 points, Huon Hooke
The Real Review
“Dark brooding black cherry, dark plum and loads of spice; very concentrated on the palate, and the fruit holds on and opens up over an extraordinarily long time.”

Curly Flat Pinot Noir represents our passion as winegrowers to faithfully capture the essence of our remarkable site coupled with the unique expression that is derived from each vintage.
Bouquet
The bouquet is all generous dark fruit alongside vibrant spice and earthy undertones. A graceful dance of dark cherries and ripe plum. Complex and rich.
Palate
Vibrant acidity, the sweet plum and cherry notes continue onto the pallet. Subtle oak, providing gentle tannin support. The fruit opens and lingers on the palate.
Cellaring
The acid and tannin structure should expect this to be drinking well for ten years or more.
How is this drinking now?
More concentrated darker fruits with complex secondary development. Silky structure with good length. Drink 2020-2023.
