“A pinot noir lit by a satin sheen of red berry fruits splayeda cross the mouth by juicy acidity and impeccably wrought tannins. Growing darker of fruit and broader of mid-drift asit opens, a lick of briar, wood smoke and truffle imbue a carnal edge to a shimmering, mellifluous finish. Delicious out of the gates, this pinot is a svelte, sumptuous glide across the senses.”

Wine Companion
“Always look forward to trying the latest Curly Flat Pinot Noir. As indeed do a lot of people; it sits safely on the Most Anticipated List. There’s plenty of richness here. Plenty of flow. And yet it’s varietal, fragrant, complex and savoury-slanted. We’re onto a good thing here. It takes spice and sews it through the mainstay of cherry plum, brushes smoky oak over dried herbs, and keeps cranberry/boysenberry characters for the finish, adding freshness and life to the overall sense of power. Mouthfeel is satiny; length is assured. Not a hair out of place. And plenty of excitement factor.”

The Wine Front
“Deep red/purple, strong, youthful colour. The bouquet is bold, clean, bright and straightforward with fresh dark cherry, dark plum and oak characters, the palate commensurately big, bold and firm, with grip and structure if not subtlety or delicate pinoty fragrance. This is very young and solid and looks set to age well and yield more interest in the future.”

The Real Review
Curly Flat Pinot Noir represents our passion as winegrowers to faithfully capture the essence of our remarkable site coupled with the unique expression that is derived from each vintage.
Bouquet
A brooding nose of red and black fruits that occupy the cherry spectrum in the main. Hints of plum provide further intensity. A chorus of secondary characters ranging from exotic cacao spice to game meats all add to the aromatic complexity.
Palate
The smaller berries of the vintage led to more physical extract, but the fruit is up to the task. Vibrant black cherry, red berries, earth, undergrowth, dark chocolate. There are elements of both density and light as ample acidity shimmers throughout the densely flavoured profile providing a long textured finish.
Cellaring
With its density in fruit, structure and acid line, long term cellaring is clearly assured. One for the long haul, cellaring well over the next 10 to 15 years.
How is this drinking now?
Brooding, dense with hints of forest and leather. Still powerful in its shape with lots of red/black primary fruit evolving well into savoury form. Great structure. Drink 2020-2027.
