“Good crimson-purple hue, although not 100% bright; as ever, a complex and powerful wine, with black cherry and plum up front, then spicy/savoury/forest notes accompany the fruit on the back-palate and finish. No doubting the security of the screwcap in protecting freshness.”

“If this 2007 release is any indication then the Curly Flat style of pinot noir is evolving. Curly Flat pinot noir is becoming a less showy, more integrated, more structured style of wine. It’s like a rock that’s now being sculpted. This tastes of sweet and sour cherries, plums, oak and fruit spice, dry tobacco and undergrowth. It’s firm and lengthy, attractively murky in the glass and to my way of thinking – very impressive.”

Curly Flat Pinot Noir represents our passion as winegrowers to faithfully capture the essence of our remarkable site coupled with the unique expression that is derived from each vintage.
Bouquet
Generous, and already developing complexity, with layers of red and black fruits; herbal, earthy, forest floor tones; leather, five spice and cigar box; subtle oak.
Palate
Medium to muscular body, with complexity of the bouquet showing through; velvety mouth feel with lots of fine ripe tannins; solid acidity, balanced with ample juicy primary fruit. Seamless line and length, with long, chewy finish.
Cellaring
Generous fruit allows for early drinking, but this wine will age for many years.
How is this drinking now?
Undergrowth, leather secondary notes merge with red cherries and macerated plum notes. Warm year provided good mouthfeel with moderate length. Drink 2020-2022.
