“Entices immediately with heady aromas: all spiced cherries, pips, warm earth, autumnal leaves and borage. But the palate is the clincher. Glossy yet fine tannins, graceful, lithe and long. Lovely wine.”

“I’m quite particular about Pinot Noir. There’s styles I very much like, and those that I don’t but may still rate highly, where appropriate. Anyway, here’s a style I do like, and I’d expect that it will have broad appeal too. The main thing I like here, is that there’s an earthy/mineral thing going on that sets it apart from the pack. Cherry, strawberry, spice, mint, autumnal, yet still bright with cranberry acidity, wonderful graphite tannin, a coolness and composure without compromising this sort of salt-of-the-earth integrity thingy. Finish is pure and mineral infused, with insistent tannin pushing it long. Fair to say I think this is very good, with more to come.”

“I’ve long loved the cool purity of Curly Flat, and 2017 frames it in an especially graceful finesse. The purity of rose petal and red cherry fruit is captivating, and to back this with such confident fine tannins and enduring acid line is a balancing feat rarely pulled off so convincingly outside the hallowed sites of Chambolle-Musigny itself. In line, length and sheer jaw-dropping beauty, this is one of the greatest Curly Flats yet.”

Wine Business Monthly
Curly Flat Pinot Noir represents our passion as winegrowers to faithfully capture the essence of our remarkable site coupled with the unique expression that is derived from each vintage.
Bouquet
Violets, black cherries and wild raspberry swirl as scents of undergrowth and potpourri enhance complexity to form a rich, fragrant and savoury nose.
Palate
A delicate fruit wave supported by a subtle raft of tannin floating on a current of lively acidity. The palate journey starts as a single point that gently, but assuredly, expands and evolves into a flourishing finish.
Cellaring
While drinking well now, the optimum drinking window remains some years away. We expect further complexity to emerge with bottle age over the 3-5 years, plus continued development over 10 years, possibly more.
