“Bright, deep crimson; a pinot with everything where it should be, even the early picking/low alcohol this has enhanced fragrance of the wine without sacrificing, ripe fruit flavours on the elegant, light-bodied palate.”

Wine Companion
“Thirty percent whole bunches and 22 months in French oak. It’s not high in alcohol and while I don’t have access to the historical figures, I suspect that this isn’t entirely new for the estate. Silken texture. Ripe, ropey tannin. Excellent cherry-plum perfume and musk-cherries-plums and spice flavours. Stalks show themselves but in an integrated fashion. Lots of mouthwatering acidity but it’s attractive and lively; it doesn’t jar.”

“Light red, faint purple rim. Shy, subtle perfume, red-fruits, subtle complexities emerging with extended breathing, including spicy wholebunch characters. Some fruit sweetness, light bodied; charming. Also has tannin, structure and length on palate. Has a core of richness, a concentrated essence, that belies its light colour and restrained fruit character. Lovely drink.”

Curly Flat Pinot Noir represents our passion as winegrowers to faithfully capture the essence of our remarkable site coupled with the unique expression that is derived from each vintage.
Bouquet
A generous, complex and seductive bouquet, showing strong aromatics. There are both red and black fruits – red and black cherry, plums. Lots of secondary characters – dried flowers, chocolate, some white pepper, earthy, toasty oak, hint of tobacco and cigar box.
Palate
Speaks of Pinot Noir and place. Dancing acidity, lots of fine powdery tannins and savoury fruit. The complexity of the bouquet flows through into the palate, supported by integrated oak, to give a long, lingering finish.
Cellaring
A complex aromatic Pinot Noir with loads of primary and secondary layers. While drinking well now, the components are still integrating and developing further, thus will benefit from further time in bottle: eight to ten years, probably more.
How is this drinking now?
Red cherries with positive secondary notes of brambles and undergrowth bringing the complexity. Striking structure and length for its age. Drink 2020-2024.
