“10% whole bunches fermented with wild annd cultured yeast, 30 days on skins, matured for 20 months in French oak (28% new). The bouquet is complex with gently spicy/forest floor/briar aromas that link with the wild strawberry, red cherry and pomegranate fruit flavours. It’s a deceptive wine, with more wire in its muscles that appears at first (or second) sight.”

Wine Companion
“Curly Flat Pinot Noir is almost always its own beast. As indeed are all the top-shelf players of the Macedon region. It’s the sternest, crunchiest, most brooding Curly Flat Pinot Noir I can recall. It’s routinely a wine of heft, and cellarworthinecs, but this release is a rock. Tannin, acid, fruit and oak all combine to powerful effect. It’s simultaneously slippery smooth, creamy in fact, and surly; it’s like an approaching cold front: beautiful, intense, intimidating. The colour is not strong but no matter. We have spice, alpine herbs, orange rind and stewed black cherries. We have acidity forming a clear stream. We have sets of tannin. This is a monty for the cellar.”

“Transparent ruby. Heady violets on the nose. Fresh ferny fruit. Lots to chew on but the fruit is emphatic enough to handle it. Racy and crunchy but still youthful.”

Due to limited quantities, the 2015 Curly Flat Pinot Noir (750ml) is restricted to one bottle per order. There are currently no limits on 375mls.
Please note the 2015 Curly Flat Pinot Noir is also available in our Pinot Noir history pack.
Bouquet
Violets, black cherries, and wild raspberry. Scents of undergrowth and potpourri enhance complexity to form a rich, fragrant, and savoury nose.
Palate
A luscious energetic palate awash with fine tannin coalesces into a scaffold of impressive structure. Kirsch characters intersect with cocoa and black pepper. Swirls of vanillin spice flourish to a lingering finish.
Cellaring
Approachable now but undoubtedly one for the cellar. An easy 10, if not 15 years lay ahead.
How is this drinking now?
Red and black cherry fruit, more of the former being bedded down with autumnal savoury charm. Impressively silky mouthfeel as good structure and length assuredly chimes in. Drink 2020-2026.
Friday to Monday and public holidays (excluding Christmas Day)
